    Dangerous Decibels Science Night

    April 28, 2017

On April 28, we had another exciting and well- attended science night.  This time, we had a presenter (Meng Vue) from OMSI's classroom education program come to Oak Creek. Through Meng's energetic and enthusiastic presentation, students learned  to understand the concept of decibels and how to measure sound.  They learned how loud sounds can damage the ear and strategies for protecting their hearing, now and in the future.  There were many hands-on activities.  Students experimented with tuning forks, created models of the inner ear, and learned to use a handheld decibel meter.  It was wonderful to have assistance from the many parents who stayed to learn and to help out.
